The water is a crystal-clear azure and warm for most of the year. This makes it perfect for swimming, snorkelling, diving or just splashing about. Gozo has two beautiful red sandy beaches  Ramla Bay and San Blas. If you aren’t a fan of sandy beaches, there are also plenty of good rocky swimming areas.

Ramla Bay is undoubtedly Gozo’s most popular beach. With its richly coloured red sand, Ramla Bay is the perfect backdrop for swimming, snorkelling or simply sunbathing whilst listening to the sound of the sea. The area surrounding the beach is undeveloped, however, one can avail himself/herself of the services offered by a couple of cafes set back from the beach.

San Blas Bay also offers distinctive red sand; however it is smaller than Ramla Bay. The fact that it is not so easily accessible, due to the very steep roads which lead to it, makes this bay more peaceful and less crowded.
